AVAILABILITY OF FINAL EA AND FONSI/ROD

The City of Charlotte has prepared a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Proposed Capacity Enhancement Projects at CLT which was submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in February 2022. The FAA Memphis Airports District Office issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Record of Decision (ROD). The Final EA and the FONSI/ROD are available here.

REVISED DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND PUBLIC OUTREACH

The Revised Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) was made available for public review on October 8, 2021. A paper copy of the Revised Draft EA was available for public review by appointment at CLT Center, 5601 Wilkinson Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28208. One virtual public meeting and hearing was held on November 8th to discuss the Revised Draft EA. A video recording of the public meeting is provided below. Comments on the Revised Draft EA were accepted through November 22, 2021, by mail to Sarah Potter, Associate Vice President, Landrum & Brown, 4445 Lake Forest Drive, Suite 700, Cincinnati, OH 45255, and by email to CLTCapacityEA@landrum-brown.com.

A paper copy of the Draft EA was available for public review by appointment at CLT Center, 5601 Wilkinson Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28208. Two virtual public workshops and hearings were held on May 17th and May 18th to discuss the Draft EA. Video recordings of the public workshops are provided below. Comments on the Draft EA were accepted through June 1, 2021 by mail to Sarah Potter, Associate Vice President, Landrum & Brown, 4445 Lake Forest Drive, Suite 700, Cincinnati, OH 45255, and by email to CLTCapacityEA@landrum-brown.com.

VIRTUAL PRESENTATION – POSTED DECEMBER 3, 2020

A virtual presentation was made available to the public on December 3, 2020 for the Capacity Enhancement Projects Environmental Assessment (EA) at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The virtual presentation reviews the EA process, identifies the purpose and need of the project, and discusses alternatives developed and considered. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, there were no in-person meetings for this presentation. Comments were accepted through January 4, 2021 via email and U.S. Postal Service mail. PUBLIC OUTREACH STATEMENT

The Airport Sponsor is committed to complete, open, and effective participation in Airport actions. The Airport Sponsor regards community involvement as an essential element in the development of Airport programs and decisions that affect the public.

As part of this National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, a broad array of opportunities will be provided to distribute information about the Environmental Assessment (EA) to relevant federal, state, and local agencies and other interested parties, as well as to solicit the input of these parties.

PAST EA MEETINGS

Public Information Meetings to inform the public on the conversion of an EIS to an EA were held on Monday, October 21, 2019 and Thursday, October 24, 2019. The agenda for each meeting was identical and an opportunity to submit written comments was provided at each meeting. All comments obtained from the public information meetings will be considered during the preparation of the EA. The EA will also take into consideration all comments obtained during the public meetings held during the EIS process.
