The City and KCAD have selected the 816 Solar Consortium (an entity comprised of Evergy, Burns &amp; McDonnell, Savion, LLC, and Herzog Contracting Corporation) to permit, engineer, design, fabricate, purchase, transport, install, operate, and maintain the proposed solar facility. The 816 Solar Consortium would enter into a long-term land lease with KCAD to operate the proposed solar facility. Upon Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval of the Environmental Assessment (EA), construction of the proposed solar facility may begin as early as 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solar Facility Siting and Feasibility Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>KCAD has taken steps to identify opportunities for development of a solar energy facility at the Kansas City International Airport (KCI) by conducting an initial siting and solar feasibility study.
